Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Storyboard reveals two dismembered Marvel heroes of the Illuminati

when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness Arriving in theaters earlier this year, it completely shook up what we thought was possible about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. One of the film’s most shocking components was the film’s iterative introduction to the Illuminati, which not only included the return of Patrick Stewart as Professor X and Anson Mount as Black Bolt, but John Krasinski was finally announced as Reed Richards after years of work. Fans want him to play the character. In the months since the movie debuted, there’s been an entirely separate conversation about which characters almost figured in the Illuminati – and a new piece of storyboard art confirms two prevalent theories.

It’s a mystery who was expected to be in the Iron Monger suit, whether that was Obadiah Stane or the alternate Tony Stark.

Why the Illuminati died in Doctor Strange 2?

The appearance of the Illuminati in the movie was made even more surprising by the brutal ways in which they were all murdered by Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen). As revealed by the film’s writer, Michael Waldron, to ComicBook.com Earlier this year, including The Illuminati was a delicate balancing act.

“It’s easy to get seduced by cheap laughter, cheap cheer, whatever,” Waldron explained at the time. But that’s not what Marvel or Sam is about [Raimi] They were interested in it. It was always about what was appropriate for the story, what was appropriate for Stephen Strange, and what was appropriate for Wanda. It wasn’t about fan service, really. It was like, “If the Illuminati characters are here, they should be here because these are the Illuminati in the comics, and that’s who it actually would be in the Illuminati.” This was our North Star.
